Called by the love of God to form a Christian community, we therefore are committed to nurture relationships, to grow in faith and understanding, to proclaim God's word, to care for God's world, and to invite other to celebrate life in joyful service to Jesus Christ.
A Brief Good Shepherd History... Good Shepherd was born through the vision of the Presbytery of Boston and a remnant of the former Brockton Presbyterian Church. They recognized the need for a faith community committed to Jesus Christ and the tenets of reformed theology. In 1990, the Revs. Ted and Moffett Churn were called to be founding co-pastors. When they moved to Massachusetts, the church was still a "twinkle in God's eye" - no name, no place to meet, and few members. Six prospective members came to the fellowship's "First Taste Picnic", five of whom had been members of the Brockton Church. The Church held its first worship service on December 2nd. Twenty prospective members celebrated side by side with a group of witnesses representing the churches of the Presbytery. Our first "home" was in the basement of a small school being used as a community theater. In the spring of 1992, having outgrown our "birthplace", our fellowship worked diligently to convert a warehouse into a house of God. There we flourished, growing to a community of over 45. Our next stop, in 1994, was Stonehill College. Then in March, 1998, (as the Israelites of old, we continued to move) we moved to the former North Easton Grammar School (NEG). Finally, in September 2000, the church processed from NEG to its new home at 701 Foundry Street. In preparation for this move the children made an ark of the covenant which they arried into the building. We have now been in our new building 2 years. Currently, Rev. Margaret Ferguson is serving as Good Shepherd's Interim Pastor. Nels Pederson is the Clerk of Session.
